The Declaration of Independence's original ink has faded to brown, but you can still see the historic signatures. Time changes everything… except freedom!

In his “I Have a Dream” speech, Dr. King called the Declaration of Independence a “promissory note”—a promise that all people are created equal. His life’s work was a call to finally honor that promise. Freedom isn’t just declared. It’s practiced.

56 delegates of the original 65 signed the Declaration. Some states’ representatives arrived late or abstained. Team freedom still got the ball across the goal line!

Signing the Declaration of Independence was technically treason against Britain. Those signatures were basically saying, “Yep, we’re ready to be arrested if this goes wrong.” 😳

Declaration Rides On -- The phrase “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” is one of the most quoted lines in American history—appearing in movies, songs, and speeches for centuries.

A Living Document! The Declaration helped form the core ideals of the U.S. Constitution, proving words really can change the world.

Copies Are Rare. The original signed Declaration of Independence document is stored at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., and only gets out for special occasions. Think of it as America’s OG VIP pass.

Fun Fact ... The Declaration of Independence inspired other countries’ revolutions, including France and Latin America. Freedom really is contagious!

The Declaration doesn’t just declare independence—it also lists grievances against King George III, basically a 1776-style “Bad Dog!” note.

Fun fact: In medieval times, “lords a-leaping” was actually a nod to nobles showing off their agility and dancing skills—kind of like an early form of flexing at court! Today, it’s a reminder that even the fanciest people once had to exercise… by jumping around in tights. 🏰

Fun Fact: Cows have best friends. 🐄 They form close bonds with specific herd mates, and when they’re separated, their stress levels go up and milk production can go down. Social lives matter—even in the pasture.

Fun Fact: Swans are among the heaviest flying birds in the world. 🦢 They need a long running start across the water—sometimes up to 100 feet—before they can lift off. All that grace takes effort!

A virtual sing along ... counting down the days after Christmas! Originally the 12 days song started Day 1 on Christmas Day. Just extended your holiday!

Did you know that the fun "12 Days of Christmas" originally designed to be sung starting on Dec 25th? It reflects that Christmas is a season & not just a single day! Enjoy the sing-a-long!

After the performance season closes, Westernaires Christmas party dancing to the tunes of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Oh and one 2022 by request. #SCWfun
